The Videos
One of the big reasons that I've been doing so many videos recently, besides the fact that it's been easy and fun, is that I've been trying to brush up on my public speaking skills. I am a communications major who now has an associates degree, after all, and those skills come in handy. My studies have mostly been geared towards written communications rather than spoken communications so I'm not exactly a professional when it comes to speaking. That is why the videos that I've been producing thus far have not been all that great quality wise.
However, I am working on this. I have received some pointers from my friend d.burr who is a radio DJ and I plan to incorporate as much of his knowledge as I can in to my upcoming videos. So please be patient as I work out the bugs. Some of the quality will improve over time. I do not currently have a quality mic and my HD camera does not have a plug-in for an external mic. So for now, the videos are in beta stage. Please stay tuned for version 1.0.

Hiatus
Due to financial reasons, I am re-prioritizing my life and focusing more on things that I can do to pay bills, eat, and generally support my living habit. To date, I have only made a couple of dollars in my ten years of blogging. What this means is that blogging will have to go on the bottom of my priority list. I am a full-time college student, and I am looking in to finding a part-time job. I will not have the time nor energy to devote to blogging for the foreseeable future, but threat not! I am not totally disappearing.
I will still be updating my twitter page.
I will also be updating Weather Fan with new videos from time to time. I currently have a backlog of severe weather footage that I've been meaning to edit and upload. When I have time, that will go up. However, I may have to miss out on some severe weather events due to time spent at any job I may land. I will still film whenever I can. I'm to addicted to it to stop.
Most importantly, I will be spending most of my free time working on my book project. This will be higher on my priority list than my blogs so I should have more time for writing the book when all things are considered. I will still be posting updates on my progress to the book projects blog which is currently code named WOSC.
I may end up not being able to renew my domain (http://www.danielwwebb.com) once it expires. If this occurs, you can always find out what I'm up to at my twitter account (http://www.twitter.com/webbupdates). There will be no further updates here until my hiatus is over.

About My New Project
It's called The Journal Anima. It's a pagan/paranormal themed journal that not only focuses on those subjects but also any subject so long that it is thought provoking. I wanted to create something that was the complete opposite of most traditional media and provoke thought in my readers rather than force feed them what to believe. Schedule permitting, there will be new posts every week day.

What May Come
There's a reason why I haven't been blogging like I used to. Several reasons, actually. One of those reasons is burnout. I have been in college for almost two years now. I'm well on my way to an associates degree and a bachelors in another two more years.
My major is communications which means that I write. I not only write, I write a whole lot. At the end of the day, after all that writing, I have little incentive to start writing again in a blog. That's why the posts that I do make these days are relatively short and to the point. I love writing. I am majoring in communications and minoring in technology because I want to break in to publishing, but I've been getting more than enough opportunities to write in school.
There's also twitter. Twitter has allowed me and many others to update their happenings very quickly and very conveniently. The only reason many people keep a blog these days is to share anything that doesn't fit in to 140 characters. Even then, they link to the blog post on twitter. Twitter has become the main place to go to find someone on the web and to see what they are up to. Blogs are becoming increasingly irrelevant for most people.
That all being said, I've missed stamping out walls of words in my blog. I've made some attempts to try doing so again, but mostly I've let the chance to make blog updates slip by. There have been plenty of things going on in my life. For instance, I recently moved to a new apartment. I got to sit in the captains chair from the original series of Star Trek. I've also been hanging out at a local park lately. I've made updates about these events on twitter and occasionally I've made short blurbs about them here. I believe that I could and should be doing much more than that, though.
I also have plenty of things lined up for the future. I will be attending Morphicon next month. I've always been a fan of anthropomorphic characters, but this will be my first furry convention. I am looking forward to possibly hanging out with fun people and seeing familiar artists within the fandom.
I am also working on and cooking up ideas for projects. However, these projects are very early on in the developmental stages. Honestly, I've made plenty of rush job web projects that never went anywhere. I want to make a project of my own merit that actually succeeds. I don't want to put much work and effort in to something that will not end up panning out anymore. It's just not worth my time and effort. That's why I'm putting a ton more thought and concentrated effort in to these new projects. They will not have a release date until I'm convinced that they are near ready and I am confident that people will enjoy them. I'm not going to write for just me anymore. I'm going to write for YOU.
If you can't tell already, my blogging break is over. I've made up my mind and I'm going to write one good and long personal blog entry at least once a month. I've written blog entries once a week for a whole month at Reviews, News, and How To Geeks, so I don't think that this will be much of a problem. Set the realistic goals first, right?
In the mean time, you can catch my latest happenings on twitter at twitter.com/webbupdates Hey, it's convenient!
You can also catch my occasional tech or geek related blog post at geeks.pirillo.com/profile/Emmerich Add me there if you have not done so yet. If you haven't joined, you really should. I have not found another community of it's type that has been so communicative in all my 10+ years of writing online.
Finally, you can also check out my weather related project at weatherfan.blogspot.com YouTube might be where I host the videos of storms that I chase, but the descriptions of these storms are in the blog!
Feel free to comment on this post. I'm writing this for you, so I value your input. Anything that you would like to see me do more of? Please tell me. I will do it! I will do it all night long if I have to... I will stay up and write that is. I mean, I do that anyway. I'll just do it more if I have to.

First Severe Thunderstorm Of The Season
Last night I filmed the first severe thunderstorm of the season in Columbus, Ohio. This thunderstorm had a tornadic vortex signature at one point.

How To Be Geeky On A Shoestring Budget
Like many college students, I don't have much money. However, I do have plenty of geeky toys. I learned very early on to make do with what I had, but that didn't mean that I had to suffer and do without. Here's how I achieved my current geek setup without going over budget.

Blue Police Box
I'm patiently awaiting the new series of Doctor Who while simultaneously catching up on the fourth season.
I've only been watching the series for under a year, but it's the previous series that made me a fan. There's a real need for smart science fiction on television, and I'm glad that this show is still going strong after many decades of success.

Is Network Televison Dead In The Water?
It seems to happen time and time again. You get interested in a show only for it to be canceled some months later. Who makes the decision for a network television show
to get the axe treatment? In many cases, it's not always the viewers. Geeks around the nation found this out the hard way when TechTV was sold. They watched helplessly as their favorite shows were turned in to freak shows or phased out, but from the ashes of TechTV emerged a new medium for providing and consuming content. This medium was made popular by the likes of the same TV hosts from TechTV. Tired of leaving their fates in the hands of television executives, they used the Internet to push out content and generate their own revenue.

Will Walled Gardens And Other Restrictions Force Us To Think Twice About Mobile Technology?
In a blog post I made awhile back, I made a prediction about how mobile technology will progress. We will eventually end up being able to do more and more with our mobile devices from anywhere we can find coverage. What I didn't know at the time was that the iPad was just under a year away from hitting the market. Although the CrunchPad I mentioned back then is eerily similar, it's a safe bet that this type of product has a much better chance of catching on with Apple pushing it out.

Tornado Warned Storm Video
The tornado warned storm video that I recorded today is now up on Weather Fan.
Tornado Warning
Franklin county was under a Tornado Warning earlier, and I filmed what I could of the storm. I got hit by hail and almost struck by lightning so you better watch the video when I upload it to Weather Fan later.
